ELEVEN students of Emmanuel College’s Vocational Nursing School completed the program on Saturday.
The commencement exercises, pinning, and candle lighting ceremony were held at Charley’s Cabaret of the Pacific Islands Club.
The graduates were Nolie Labadan, Pauline Perez, Doris Cruz, Wu Xia, Yvette Cruz, Doreen Solomon, Lovely Eclevia, Chandel Canarez, Farrah Louise S. Sison, Qi Wang and Nan Yu.
A vocational nurse practices under the direction of a physician or a registered nurse and is responsible for rendering basic nursing care.
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial, in his remarks, told the graduates that they were “marching tonight to receive your passport to an exciting and rewarding career in healthcare as vocational nurses.”
Pauline Perez, the president of the third cohort of graduates, is from Leyte, a central Philippine province.
She said she always wanted to become a healthcare provider and was happy to see her dreams come true here in the CNMI.
She finished the vocational nurse program in the required time of 11 months.
It was not easy for her but her family and friends were her inspiration, she said.
There were times when she thought of giving up but she persisted, she added.
“I’m very happy and excited. I’ll continue to review for the board exam to get my license. After that, I will take the NCLEX,” Perez said, referring to the U.S. National Council Licensure Examination.
