GOLF professionals, enthusiasts, amateurs and aspirants now have new hangout to practice their skills 
as Mariana Resort & Spa opened its golf driving range on Saturday.
Situated adjacent to Mariana Resort’s go-kart track in Marpi, the golf driving range spreads into acres of spacious green facing the ocean.
On its opening on Saturday afternoon, golf balls kept on flying as golfers, both locals and tourists and from different age groups swung their clubs non-stop from their stance mats and trying to aim as far as 250 yards away.
Visitors took advantage of the opening promo of $3 per bucket containing 100 golf balls.
Mariana Country Club operations manager Lito Parulan said the new facility will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The promo will run up to Dec. 31, he said, but next year the regular price of $5 per bucket will apply for locals.
Parulan encourages golfers and would-be golfers to bring their own golf clubs but if they don’t own one, they can rent from the Mariana Resort for $4 each.
“The new golf driving range is the perfect place to practice your swing before you play at our 18 holes or short 8-hole golf course,” Parulan said.
Construction for the new facility started last month.
With the opening of the golf driving range, Parulan said the Mariana Resort & Spa has now complete golf facilities which they aim at attracting more golfers from other countries, particularly Japan and Korea.
For an amateur, swinging may look as easy and simple but there’s more to it – from how you hold the club, what club to use, the timing of your movements, the target where you aim your swing, and more, Parulan said.
“We are willing to teach beginners the basics if they need help,” he said.
Parulan added that the golf driving range is open even for children, but kids under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult or golf instructor while playing on the driving range.
Parulan said Mariana Resort & Spa is planning to open a Junior Golf Academy next year which will be run by professional golfers.
